"It All Leads Here" tackles lead contamination in Montreal’s drinking water, where slow municipal action forces costly pipe replacements on residents. Inspired by corals as natural biofilters, a portable microbial fuel cell filter was created using Arctic marine bacteria Stuzterimonas and Shewanella to transform lead into an insoluble form while producing green energy. Through extensive material experimentation, design iterations, and lab testing, the work envisions accessible solutions for community health. This innovative water filter also functions as an art object, bridging the gap between public health and artistic engagement, making clean water and art more accessible to the community.
