“Meat of the Matter: A Flesh Perspective” uses satire to challenge food ethics and sustainability by exposing contradictions in how society treats animals. It highlights environmental harms like greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and cruelty in the meat industry, while questioning norms around meat consumption. The project provocatively suggests consuming traditionally non-edible animals, like pets, to force reflection on the livestock-pet divide and excessive meat eating. It includes two websites: “The Meat of the Matter” shares scientific research on meat’s impacts, and “Eat Your Pets” offers a satirical pet-meat service to provoke critical thinking about speciesism and consumption.
