Re:Shell
finalist project

Re:Shell transforms eggshells, rich in calcium carbonate, into durable bio-based composites for interior and architectural applications. By combining eggshell powder with natural additives like loess, straw, and wheat bran, it creates four material variations with qualities such as breathability, lightness, and strength. Sourced locally from bakeries, Re:Shell promotes resource stability and lowers carbon impact. Addressing South Korea’s increasing construction waste, the project supports material circularity and eco-safe end-of-life solutions. Blending traditional Korean narratives with sustainable design, Re:Shell reimagines eggshell waste as a valuable resource, advancing eco-friendly building and interior practices.
